Prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.
“On my honor I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; to help other people at all times; to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.”
A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.
Safety At Every Step
In Scouting, we will not compromise the safety of our youth, volunteers, and employees. Safety is a value that must be taught and reinforced at every opportunity. We are all responsible and must hold each other accountable to provide a safe environment for all participants.
The BSA's Commitment to Safety:
We are all responsible and must hold each other accountable to provide a safe environment for all participants. We are committed to abuse prevention by utilizing: Mandatory youth protection training and criminal background checks.

Q: What is the time commitment?
A: Weekly meetings are 1hr in duration. Scouts and Parents serving in leadership roles will require additional time on a weekly basis.
Q: How much does it cost?
A: Troop 5549 dues are $180 each year ($15/month) in addition to activity fees (e.g. food and propane costs for camping trips). Annual dues cover the annual fee for registration with the Northeast Georgia Council, the Troop (BSA) accident insurance, awards earned by the Scout, routine supplies and equipment for Troop operations, as well as other Troop expenses (e.g. credit card processing fees).
Q: Do I need to pay all of the dues up-front?
A: No. There are fundraising opportunities for each Scout to offset out of pocket expenses. Our Troop participates in popcorn and camp card sales each year with the Northeast Georgia Council. There is also an opportunity to pay dues at a monthly rate of $15.
Q: How often does the Troop meet?
A: We meet weekly on Monday night and have at least one weekend activity for ten months of the year. We attend one week long (7 days) summer camp program each June. We also promote attendance to events such as National Youth Leadership Training, National and World Jamboree's, and events hosted by our district and council.
Q: What if I have another child who is older than 11 years of age?
A: Troop 5549 is a unit dedicated to developing leadership skills in our young women. However, Troop 549 also meets at our location to serve young men. Our goal is to work together to serve you by providing an awesome program to all of your family at one time and place each week!
Q: What if I have another child who is younger than 11 years of age?
A: We can also help you with an awesome program for our younger Scouts too! Pack 564 meets at our location once a month. Depending on the what grade your young Scout is in, they will meet about once a week in various places. Reach out to us at info@BSATROOP5549.org for more information.
Q: Can I participate with my Scout?
A: Absolutely! We would love to have help with the weekly meetings, planning events, attending campouts and activities, and so much more. Participation does require you to register and complete a few short, on-line training modules. No matter how big or small, time with you is a gift we would appreciate whenever you are able to give it.
